When you are planning a wedding, there are a lot of people to talk to and vendors to hire. It’s a lot to do and can be overwhelming at times.

That’s why it’s good to be organized. Choosing vendors can be tough. You do have resources. Talk to the folks at your wedding reception location and ask about their preferred vendors.

It’s good to go into such things prepared. There’s no doubt one of the most important (if not the most important) vendors selected will be the wedding photographer.

Going in prepared means presenting some questions to your potential wedding photographer:

• Does the photographer have a gallery of images you can look through? Checking out a portfolio can give you an idea of the photographer’s style.
• What is the photographer’s working style? Does the photographer tend to hang back or orchestrate certain settings and situations?
• Will a detailed shot list be created? Such a list will ensure that no important moment of the wedding day is skipped or ignored.
• Does the photographer have liability insurance? Accidents happen, even at weddings. If any accident at the wedding involves the photographer, it’s good to have protection.
• Will the photographer provide a contract of services and can you get a copy of the contract? Ask for a contract from your photographer that details what services will be provided. A contract helps protect you and the wedding photographer.
• How many photographers will be at the ceremony and reception? Many photographers have assistants that will also be involved. It’s good to know about this ahead of time.
